But instead, a business decision, and one made by Simon & Schuster, only when Yiannopoulos reached the furthest possible point of human degeneracy, is seen as an ambush against the First Amendment. Someone says something that doesn’t align with one’s brand, and a company has every right to protect its image and its consumer base by distancing itself from the controversial figure.

This week, Milo Yiannopoulos (oh how I hate that now I’m able to spell his name correctly on the first try), prominent voice of the alt-right, lost his book deal with Simon & Schuster and quit his job as an editor at Breitbart news in the wake of new publicity surrounding a year-old podcast appearances in which Yiannopoulos defended pedophilic relationships between adults and thirteen-year-old children.
